Rako RS232 & HAI

Is there any reason why The Rako® RS232 Interface does not work with an HAI Omni2e serial port?

We have checked the House number and can control lighting using hyperterminal and sending rako commmands to the unit when it is plugged into the pc.

We have also checked that the HAI is sending out the correct commands by connecting HAI serial cable to pc.

But for some reason we can't get the Rako interface to respond to commands from the HAI unit.

We are using the non bi-directional RS232 interface - I am wondering if you have to use the b-directional unit but can't see a reason why.

We have the serial 1 port on the Omni2e to Prolink and baud rate at 1200.

Ralph,
There is no problem using the RAV-232 (i.e. non bidirectional) with any of the HAI controllers.

We have used the RAV-232 with the Omni IIe on one of our display stands. It works fine.

Have you remembered to to put the ^M at the end of each RS-232 message in the Messages section of PC Access?

Please make sure your programme references the correct port number so it sends the message out the right port.

The only other thing I can think of is the cable you are using. I would uses a 36A05-4 serial connectivity cable and this this may need a RS232M-RS232M gender changer.

To help diagmnose what is going on there is a small red LED under the serial port on the HAI panel. If you look very carefuly you will see it blink when the message is being sent. You should also see the RAV 232 blue light flash when it receives the message and transmits on the wireless.

Hope that helps.
