Whole House AV

Hi all,

I mainly install voice and data networks with my colleague who is a Telecoms engineer. We are both very keen to break into the home AV market. We have projects running at the moment and are finding that all our clients needs are very similar.

Each of our clients has multiple web enabled TV's, Sonos, and various separates, eg: Blu Ray players. They all want to be able to surf the internet at all TV locations, access their music, photo's and films which are currently on a NAS.

We have tested the QNAP TS-239 ProII, and NMP1000 as a media player. We are finding it difficult getting all our existing music and film collections onto the drive without getting into copyright issues.

I also viewed Kalidascapes range of servers at Cedia this year but the price is very high.

Sorry for my ignorance but is there such a machine on the market?

This is an excellent topic for discussion. Have a look at http://www.theatronmedia.co.uk. This is a movie, music, picture and video server with multi user capability.
