Neeraj,
This is an interesting question. The hardware looks remarkably similar. However, the firmware on board could be very different. Assuming a 3rd party manufacturer makes the hardware then companies like CYP and Gefen will differentiate themselves on the firmware they right and install on the box. I have not tested the CYP 8x8 but I have tested the Gefen 8x8 and it seems very solid. It has a very nice feature of pre-negotiating the HDCP keys for the screens. This means that it requests all the HDCP keys for the attached screens and stores them locally on the switch. Then when a source requires the HDCP keys for the screen the switch can provide these very quickly as it has them locally and does not need to ask the screen for them. This is very useful as the source needs the screen HDCP keys every time the user switches between sources. When this happens the source needs to revalidate all the HDCP keys for all the screens it is supplying an HD signal to. With an 8x8 this could be 8 screens. For the switch to provide all 8 keys to the source rather than having to go and get them from the screens saves a great deal of time. This allows fast switching between sources. Additionally some screens blank out for a second when they are supplying their HDCP keys. By storing the keys in the switch this prevents the screens blanking out for a second which is a major benefit. Therefore prenegotiation of HDCP keys is a very important feature that the Gefen 8x8 has but I do not knbow if the CYP 8x8 does this.
